ODO NNYEW FIE KWAN
“Love never loses its way home”

symbol of the power of love

PRONOUNCED: oh dough fee-eh kwan

Like all the adinkra symbols, ODO NNYEW FIE KWAN is popularly used in tattoos.

I discovered the film,  Love Lights Its Path… to be an example of the inspiration of the  adinkra symbols. The diverse production team, composed of Ghanaians and other Diaspora members who “found  their way home”, is a real-life example of what  ODO NNYEW FIE KWAN symbolizes.

Co-writers,  Kwadwo Gyan-Apenteng and Nehanda Gyan-Apenteng, set out to “produce a contemporary film that explores the deeply complicated history, heritage and emotional relationship of Africans to themselves. ” and “portray the deep affect and perspective of both Africans on the continent and those in the Diaspora impacted by the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade.”
